We will have Nucleus Colonies available for purchase available June 2024, depending on seasonal weather.
- A four frame nuc will have 4 deep frames of brood, eggs, pollen and nectar as well as a laying mated queen and bees.
- Our nucs are sold for $250 each in a disposable cardboard nuc box, for ease of transportation.
- Nucs can be reserved as early as November 2023 and are confirmed with a $100 deposit (non-refundable). Remaining balance will be due before or upon pick up of bees at Ballycanoe Naturals.

QUEENS

Our queen bees are typically available for purchase throughout the spring/summer seasons. Contact us for more info and availability.

Please Note: We require 24hrs notice to prepare your queens for pick up/travel. We do not ship bees. Queens must be picked up at our farm in Mallorytown, ON.

Things to keep in mind ‘before’ bringing home your bees.

Before your nuc is ready for pick up, you need to have your hive pre-assembled and set up in the desired location.
Bring your own protective clothing, if desired.
Transportation: We do not close entrances to restrict the flight of bees. Closing in/sealing/taping and deciding how to transport the bees is the responsibility of the new owner (you).
Your nucs should be kept in a warm, but not hot, place during transport. We are not responsible for bees that get overheated, after leaving our care.
Ideal transport is in the back of a pickup. Plan ahead, bring any tarps, boxes, and/or accessories you need to strap boxes in place and out of the wind.
Bees can be restricted for car transport, AT YOUR OWN RISK! You may want to bring a sheet or netting to cover the bees.
Bees must be placed in their new homes ASAP. The sooner you can get your nucs to their new hive, the better your success rate. Nucs should be installed into a pre-assembled 10 frame box. (Bees sold as a 10 frame single deep will need their second box.)
We recommend feeding nucs (especially if they are being installed into new or undrawn foundation), at least until they have filled out the first box with bees and resources.
